Noon Exchange Club announces scholarship winners

The Noon Exchange Club of Garland recently announced its Youth of the Year winners. Each of the three winners also received a scholarship.

Christina Cullpepper – Youth of the Year Winner

Christina is a Rowlett High School senior and three-year member of the Air Force Junior ROTC earning the rank of Cadet Captain. In addition, she was appointed to the Rowlett Youth Advisory Council and participated in the Military of the Worlds Conference held at Texas A&M University.

The organization awarded Christina a $2500 scholarship. She will pursue a degree at Texas Woman’s University in the fall. Also, she will participate in the UNT/TWU Air Force ROTC program. Christina plans to enlist in the military after graduation.

Rachel Samuel – Youth of the Year Winner-Second Place

Rachel is a North Garland High School senior. She is a four-year member of Student Council and was elected to the office of vice president. Additionally, Rachel participated in Beta Club, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Health Occupations Students of America.

Rachel received a $2000 scholarship from the Noon Exchange Club of Garland.  She will pursue a degree in Biology at the University of Texas-Austin and plans to go on to medical school.

Taylor Shedd – Youth of the Year Winner-Third Place

Taylor is a Rowlett High School senior and a three-year member of the National Honor Society and Health Occupations Students of America in which she held the office of president. In addition, she also participated in the GRTC Medical Vocational program and varsity girls’ soccer.

The organization awarded Taylor a $1500 scholarship. She plans to attend Texas State University where she will pursue a degree in nursing.
