| ERCOT has issued a Conservation Appeal, asking Texans and Texas businesses to voluntarily conserve electricity from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 11.
To conserve power, turn off unnecessary lights and electronics and delay using large appliances.
One way to help save energy and money during these hot days is to set your thermostat to 78 degrees. Each degree cooler will increase your energy use by 6% to 8%. Another tip is to raise your thermostat a few degrees before leaving home.
Use fans to stay cool. A fan blowing directly on you will make temperatures feel up to 4 degrees cooler. Remember to turn the fan off when you leave the room.
An easy way to help keep your home cool is to keep the blinds and drapes closed to help block out the heat.
