From Friday, Aug. 19, through Monday, Sept. 5, Garland police officers participated in a statewide added enforcement for the Labor Day holiday.
The additional enforcement resulted in the following:
- 85 Traffic Stops
- 87 Citations
- 41 Warnings
- 21 Arrests for driving while intoxicated offenses, two of which were grant funded.
The additional enforcement was paid for by a state-funded grant, from TxDOT, known as the Impaired Driving Mobilization (IDM) Grant, which targeted DWI along with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by Minors.
The Garland Police Department would like to thank TxDOT for their assistance in allowing officers to keep the city streets safe during the Labor Day Holiday.
In 2021, TX DOT reported over 1,000 fatality crashes involving driving under the influence.
Together we can #EndTheStreak.
