Friday, Sept. 9, at about 5 pm, Garland Police Department (GPD) officers responded to a crash northbound on Castle Drive near Toler Road. Multiple occupants were transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
Traffic investigators believe a black Dodge pickup truck, occupied by one male driver, was traveling northbound on Castle Drive when it crossed the center median and collided head-on with a grey SUV that was traveling southbound, then catching fire.
The driver of the black Dodge pickup truck, 30-year-old Jeremy Spencer of Frisco, remained on the scene. The investigation led officers to believe Spencer was impaired. Spencer was arrested and later transported to the hospital for his injuries.
Spencer has been charged with two counts of Intoxication Assault with Vehicle-Serious Bodily Injury and Intoxication Manslaughter.
A 13-year-old female was pronounced deceased today. A 37-year-old female remains in an area hospital in critical condition.
This is still an ongoing investigation.
