**Update–Arrest Made in Shooting Investigation**
Yesterday, Sept. 15, Garland police officers located and arrested 18-year-old Edgar Francisco Solis Torres. He is being held in the Garland Detention Center for Aggravated Assault – Serious Bodily Injury. No bond has been set.
Investigators have confirmed that the victim attends South Garland High School. Solis Torres is not a student there.
The victim is stable in critical condition.
The investigation remains active.
Thursday, Sept. 15, just after 3 p.m., Garland Police Department officers responded to the report of a gunshot wound in the 3300 block of Broadway Boulevard. Officers arrived and located a male suffering from a gunshot wound. The male was transported to an area hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
Officers believe a fight occurred between two males, which resulted in gunfire. It is unknown what started the dispute.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, between 17 and 19 years of age. He has a short haircut, and he was wearing grey sweatshirt and grey sweatpants.
Multiple schools were locked down for safety reasons, but all have now been released.
This is an ongoing investigation.
