Week nine of the high school football season ended in victories for Sachse High School and Rowlett High School, as well as Wylie East and Wylie high schools.
Sachse HS gets victory over South Garland HS
The Sachse Mustangs (3-5, 3-3) defeated the South Garland Titans (1-8, 0-7) by a score of 51-12 Thursday, Oct. 20. SHS quarterback Victor Jesus Gutierrez completed 7-8 for 91 yards and two TDs. Quarterback Brenden George completed 7-10 for 83 yards and three scores. Kaliq Lockett caught two TD passes. Jhett Creel, Jaedyn Cunningham and Austin Phillips each caught one TD throw. Brendon Haygood scored a rushing TD for the Mustangs. J.J. Hunt on special teams added
a score on a fumbled kickoff return and blocked a PAT and returned it for two more points.
Sachse HS coaches recognized Victor Jesus Gutierrez as Offensive MVP and Vashon Brunswick as Defensive MVP. J.J. Hunt on special teams was also recognized.
Titans’ QB Mirko Martos completed 12-24 throws for 159 yards and one touchdown that was caught by Jaden Holland. Bill Curtis added a rushing score for the Titans.
Wylie East defeats North Garland
North Garland Raiders (3-5, 2-4) were defeated by the Wylie East Raiders (8-0, 6-0) Friday, Oct. 21. The final score was 47-26. NGHS quarterback Godspower Nwawulhe rushed for 137 yards on nine carries and scored two TDs. Jaden Davis rushed for 206 yards on 31 carries and scored twice.
Rowlett Eagles get win over Lakeview Centennial Patriots
Rowlett High School (3-6, 3-4) defeated Lakeview Centennial High School (4-4, 3-3) by a final score of 21-6 Friday, Oct. 21. The Eagles’ GerMyius Benson rushed for a TD and collected 86 yards on the night. Quarterback Andrew Ellison ended the game at 8-19 for 85 yards and one TD. The TD pass was caught by James Okolo. Jayden Ellis scored when he ran back a blocked field goal for a TD.
The Patriots’ score came on a pass from Jonathan Hester to Julius Spencer. Hester threw for 131 yards and ended the game at 15-31.
Naaman Forest HS defeated by Wylie HS
The NFHS Rangers (4-4, 4-2) lost to the Wylie Pirates (5-3, 4-2) Friday, Oct. 21 by a final score of 35-14. Quarterback Deangelo Perales completed a pass to Dylan Turner for a score and Isaiah Cunning rushed for a touchdown. Perales completed 11 of 23 pass attempts for 128 yards and Cunning carried the ball 20 times for 91 yards.
