Morning rain delayed the event but didn’t affect anyone’s fun at the March 24 Clay Shoot. The event was organized by Sheena Sharapata, Director of Training & Recruitment, Marketing, Events & Community at Randall Reed’s Planet Ford 635. It benefited the Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation.
The shooting contest participants had a great time. In addition to the competition, they enjoyed great food and fellowship.
The contest format included two courses and each shooter shot 100 rounds. There were 31 teams of four shooters each.
The shooting team from Gardner Construction came in first place. RAD-Rides took second place and Collins Concrete and Glenn Thurman, Inc. tied for third place.
In addition to the clay shoot contest, having the opportunity to raise funds for the Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation was a privilege for all.
“I’m beyond blessed to be with the team at Planet Ford 635 that allows us the opportunity to create these incredible events that bring together multiple companies who want to support our veterans and first responders in Garland,” Sharapata said.
The event, which was held at the Texas Gun Ranch in Terrell, raised $40,000 for the foundation. In addition to the many volunteers who helped make the event possible, the event sponsors below went above and beyond to ensure that the event was a success.

- A delicious lunch was cooked on-site by Texas de Brazil Food Truck.

- Custom awards were supplied by Custom Awards from KPCC Rustic Flags.
- Complimentary ammunition for all event shooters from John Aragon with Highlands Residential Mortgage.
- Brace Built in Garland provided raffle items.
- Black Rifle Coffee Company donated giveaways.

Sharapata works diligently in the Garland community, and she’s very proud to work with the Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation.
“The Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation helps Garland PD officers and their immediate families financially through illness and with mental health programs through partnerships,” she said. “We’ve been able to help many non-profits
in DFW, but it’s great to be able to team up with local companies and make a direct impact in Garland, in our community.”
She added that so many community members and businesses supporting the mission of GPNWAF shows the heart of the people of Garland.
“They come together to make a difference,” she said. “Together, we were able to donate $40,000 from this event, and we’ll be having the 2nd Annual Planet Ford 635 5-0 Clay Shoot March 22, 2024, at Texas Gun Ranch. It will again benefit GPNWAF.”
Because of her own health issues, Sharapata understands the importance of community and helping others.
“After having two MVD surgeries for bilateral Trigeminal Neuralgia from concussions, also known as the suicide disease, I know the importance of validation with an illness for mental health,” she said. “The GPNWAF board provides compassionate support and many avenues for therapy for Garland officers and their families. It enables them to confidently step forward for assistance when needed and lets them know they aren’t alone.”
