Garland’s very first splash pad opened at noon Thursday, July 13, at Embree Park, 1515 Dairy Road. This splash pad is part of the voter-approved 2019 Bond Program. District 2 Council Member Deborah Morris was in attendance to officially open Garland’s new water feature.
“We want to provide families and kids with a place that they can come out and play for free,” said Morris. “And this is a free splash pad … this is like a water playground … just like any of our other city park playgrounds.”
The splash pad at Embree Park is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Sept. 30. The splash pad may be closed periodically due to water restrictions, maintenance protocols or weather-related events.
We’ll celebrate other bond projects Saturday, July 22, as part of Build Garland Day 2023. Those will include recreation center and library groundbreaking events, a ribbon-cutting at a playground and another splash pad in time for the summer heat.
