The Nicholson Memorial Library System has announced an extensive schedule of activities for November. There are opportunities all ages.

Early Literacy (Ages 0-5)

Little Art Explorers supports early child development by integrating activities that build motor skills, increase vocabulary, improve symbol recognition and encourage emotional awareness. Attendees focus on process of making art rather than the end product. Oct. 7 theme: Ball Art.

Babies (6-18 months) will listen to a short story and then work on a baby-safe painting activity related to the story. Be prepared to get messy, though mess-free options will be available. All supplies provided. Space is limited.

Grab your favorite stuffie, put on your jammies, it’s time for a Pajama Party! Join us for a monthly evening story time featuring stories, songs, rhymes and activities to support early literacy development. Limited seating available.

Teens and adults sign up and select recipes two weeks before event, then make their selection at home and bring it to the meetings. Participants can choose a recipe from listed books or use a recipe of their own that fits the theme.

To observe America Recycles Day, Central Library Express will offer beeswax take and make kits. Beeswax wraps are a reusable, plastic-free alternative to plastic cling-wrap. Kits include materials needed to create reusable wraps!

An afternoon reflecting on the 60th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Dallas Municipal Archivist, John Slate, presents a timeline of the investigation before, during and after this tragedy. Light refreshments.
