Week 10 of the HS football season took a little extra time to complete because of lightning and rainstorms, but it is now in the books. The scores and the District 9-6A standings are below.
Garland Owls 42 – South Garland Titans 6
Garland HS (6-3, 5-2) defeated South Garland HS (2-8, 0-8) Thursday, Oct. 26, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. The final score was 42-6. The majority of the Owls’ scores came on passes by QB Orlando Routt completed 19 passes out of 25 attempts for 278 yards. Jayden Norwood, Tyrone Crethers, Keylon Davis, Adam Rotich and Terrence Greene each caught one of Routt’s touchdown throws. Green also scored a rushing TD and carried the ball five times for 114 yards. D’Adrian Hardy carried the ball eight times for 133 yards. This win clinched a playoff spot for the Owls.
The Titans’ QB, Ramon Franco, completed 12 passes for 131 yards and one TD. Rodrigo Romero caught the TD pass and had six catches for 53 yards. Mariano Flores caught five for 70 yards on the night.
Sachse Mustangs 52 – Wylie Pirates 21
The Sachse Mustangs (7-2, 7-0) got a 52-21 win over the Wylie Pirates (6-3, 5-2) Friday, Oct. 27, at Wylie ISD Stadium. The Mustangs remain undefeated in district play. QB Brenden George ended the night at 19-34 for 255 yards and four touchdowns. Kendrick Hanks had 10 catches for 120 yards and a score. Robbie Rothrock also caught a TD pass. Kaliq Lockett caught two passes for scores. Brendon Haygood scored a rushing TD. Josh Ridge also ran for a TD. The defense scored for the Mustangs on a 3-yard fumble return.
Pirates’ QB Jagger Bale scored two rushing TDs and threw for 171 yards and a touchdown. Martaveion Sanders caught the TD pass and had five catches for 146 yards.
Wylie East Raiders 62 – Lakeview Centennial Patriots 14
The Wylie East Raiders (8-1, 6-1) defeated the Lakeview Centennial Patriots (5-4, 3-4) Saturday, Oct. 27, at Homer B. Johnson Stadium. The Patriots scores came on two passes by QB Kendrick Sanders and caught by Trenton Harris. Sanders ended the game at 8-17 for 115 yards. Harris also rushed for 66 yards on five carries.
North Garland Raiders 28 – Naaman Forest Rangers 14
The North Garland Raiders (3-7, 3-5) defeated the Naaman Forest Rangers (1-9, 1-7) Friday, Oct. 27, with a finish Saturday, Oct. 28, because of a rain delay. The final score was 28-14. According to www.maxpreps.com, the NGHS play of the game was Efosa Osas. Because of the delayed finish, stats are not yet available.
