The city of Garland earned 14 awards during the annual Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors conference in early November in Dallas. Garland received awards in 12 categories, including first-place trophies for the following productions:
- Public Service Announcement above $250k: “eAssist & the 8-bit Pothole”
- Military above $250k: “A Real-Life Rosie the Riveter”
- Profile of an Individual: “The Painter”
The city was awarded second place in Arts and Entertainment above $250k for “Bankhead Highway Cultural Arts District.”
Three other videos earned third place:
- Special Audience: “Problems on the Road? eAssist-Spanish”
- PSA Campaign: “Public Service Recognition Week”
- Partnership Production: “Veronica on the Go – Strike+Reel”
Seven productions earned Honorable Mention:
- Overall Excellence over $250k
- Instruction/Training: “Don Howard”
- Instruction/Training: “Build a Kit”
- Use of Humor: “Space”
- Arts and Entertainment Above $250k: “Buddy Whittington”
- Storytelling: “The Painter”
- Partnership Production: “Truck Driving Championship – Garland Police Department”
Garland’s Public & Media Relations Department manages and assists with production of the city’s Government Access Cable Channel (CGTV), Garland City Press and other publications, and the City website. Public & Media Relations partners with other city departments including Arts, Visit Garland, Economic Development, Heritage Crossing and Police.
