Station 3-C was recognized by Medical City Dallas for their exceptional care for a stroke patient. The patient was a 45-year-old female whose symptoms presented while riding as a passenger in a car. The patient had left-sided weakness and facial droop. The driver immediately recognized the signs of a stroke, so he pulled over to a gas station and called 911. When paramedics arrived on scene to treat the patient, they immediately activated Code Stroke and transported her to the hospital, where she received an IV thrombolytic and successful mechanical thrombectomy.
The patient not only had a good outcome, but she was also present when the crew was recognized. Great job to Capt. Jacob Mount, Driver Engineer Frank Simon and Firefighters Joshua Hansen, Jared Head and Jacob Soto!
