Two students from Garland High School’s Speech and Debate team have made their school and Garland ISD proud by winning prestigious awards at the Harvard National High School Speech Tournament.
Senior Adaolisa Agbakwu won 2nd place in Dramatic Interpretation out of 238 competitors and 4th place in the Program of Oral Interpretation out of 150 competitors. Senior Joshua Eneji took 3rd place in Original Oratory out of 325 competitors and 5th place in Dramatic Interpretation.
The students traveled to Cambridge, Massachusetts, and competed against some of the best in the country, returning home with pride and new hardware.
The Harvard National High School Speech Tournament, held annually during Presidents’ Day weekend in Cambridge, is renowned as one of the largest and most prestigious speech and debate events in the United States.
