Join the biggest book club in town! Garland Libraries are launching One Book, One Garland—a community reading program for adults ages 18 and older. Participants read the same book then enjoy related events throughout the course of the program. This year’s selection is “Hard Country” by The New York Times bestselling, local author Reavis Z. Wortham. Wortham, a former teacher and communications specialist for the Garland Independent School District, is “absolutely overwhelmed and honored” at his book being selected, stating that “to be chosen for that kind of recognition is almost unimaginable.”
One Book, One Garland runs from June 8 to Sept. 28 and concludes with four special events in September, including a night with the author, a book club meeting and a writing workshop with Wortham in attendance, a day-long CrimeCon featuring interactive forensic stations presented by Sci-Tech, true crime trivia and more.
Join One Book, One Garland by picking up a copy of “Hard Country” from one of Garland’s four public libraries or borrowing it online at www.NMLS.overdrive.com.
