Sachse High School is excited to recognize students who have succeeded in the AP Capstone program, a unique learning opportunity respected by colleges worldwide.

Participating in the AP Capstone program offers many benefits. It helps students stand out to colleges during the application process, develop key academic skills they’ll use in other classes and beyond, and become more self-confident, independent thinkers and problem solvers. Additionally, students can earn college credit, as many universities offer credit for qualifying AP scores, saving them time and money in higher education.
The AP Capstone program challenges students to work on research projects over several years, exploring topics they care about. They receive guidance from their teachers as they develop critical thinking skills that will help them after high school.
To get the AP Capstone Diploma, students must score a 3 or higher in AP Seminar, AP Research, and four other AP Exams. For the AP Seminar and Research Certificate, students need to score a 3 or higher in just AP Seminar and AP Research. In the 2023-24 school year, more than 100,000 students worldwide joined the program, with 21,000 earning the diploma and 11,100 getting the certificate.
Unlike regular AP exams, which are just one test, AP Seminar and AP Research are based on projects and essays completed throughout the year. These classes allow students to choose topics that interest them while building important skills like time management and communication.
The AP Capstone program is part of the Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses, which allow students to take college-level classes while still in high school. Scoring a 3 or higher on AP Exams can give students college credit, saving time and money. Research shows that AP students are better prepared for college and more likely to graduate on time.
Garland ISD is proud of its students for their hard work in this challenging program.
