Week 4: HS football recap

The fourth week of GISD high school football, District 9-6A, ended in victories for Lakeview Centennial HS, Sachse HS, Rowlett HS and Garland HS. Scores are below:

Lakeview Centennial Patriots defeated North Garland Raiders Thursday, Sept. 19 by a score of 34-20.

The Patriots’ quarterback Kendrick Sanders ended the game at 18-27 with 270 passing yards and three touchdowns. He also scored a rushing TD. Two of the TD passes were caught by Julius Spencer who had 10 catches for 147 yards. George Zigler caught the other TD throw. DeMarion Miller scored a rushing TD for LCHS.

The NGHS quarterback, Christian Hampton was 11-24 with 178 yards and three scores on the night. Hampton also carried the ball 19 times for 83 rushing yards. Raphael Rosa, Bryan Johnson and Chris Hampton caught TD passes.hs

Sachse Mustangs defeated the Wylie Pirates Thursday, Sept. 19. The score was 44-17.

SHS quarterback Dirk Williams threw for 186 yards and three scores. Kaliq Lockett had seven catches for 84 yards and two touchdowns. Keandre Little also caught a TD pass. Brendon Haygood scored a rushing TD and had 10 carries for 146 yards. Williams and Chase Thomas also scored rushing TDs. Josh Weston added a field goal.

The SHS coaching staff named Aidan Pierce offensive lineman of the game; recognized Brendon Haygood for offensive skill; and named Kaliq Lockett as offensive MVP. They also recognized Corey Walls, Jaden Smith and X’zavion Williams on defensive front 7; recognized Jordan Nelson for defensive skill; and named CJ Wells and Sean Devault as defensive MVPs. Chase Thomas on special teams was also recognized.

Rowlett Eagles got a 30-23 win over the Naaman Forest Rangers Friday, Sept. 20.

The Eagles’ QB Samuel Loera threw for 170 yards. LaDarius Sessions scored two rushing TDs and Peyton Keller also got two TDs on runs.

The Rangers’ QB DeAngelo Perales completed 14-20 throws for 116 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a TD. Braylen Deal caught the two TD passes.

Garland Owls got an overtime win over the South Garland Titans Friday, Sept. 20. The score was 27-26.

Ty’Ques Mills scored three rushing TDs during regulation time. One those was in OT. Temarkius Jackson also scored a rushing TD. Quarterback Carlos Majica threw for 121 yards.

QB Edson Rincon threw for 190 yards and two touchdowns for SGHS. He also rushed for a TD. Paulo Jiminez caught both touchdown throws. The Titans also added a 37-yard field goal.
