The geocaches that are in the current Garland History GeoTour are being archived, (see this link for info) and GeoTour 2.0 will be launched Saturday, Oct. 19. It will be kicked off at the Granville Arts Center with a launch party which begins at 8:30 a.m. with free food and a few speakers. At 10 a.m., 20 new geocaches will be published, and the geocachers in attendance will make mad scrambles to all of them, each hoping to get an “FTF” (First To Find).
There will be 20 locations in the city of Garland, and all have some kind of historical significance. A few include The Flats, Roach Feed & Seed, the Downtown Square, the location of the old Beltline 67 Drive-In, Spring Creek Park and the original Williams Funeral Parlor.
At 4 p.m., we will meet back up at Fortunate Son for the “after party.” There, those players who completed their task will receive a coveted, original and trackable GeoCoin (see mint proof of coin below) and enjoy some great food, drink and fellowship.
