Garland Civic Theatre’s (GCT) production of Little Women the Broadway Musical will run Dec. 6-22. The musical is based on Louisa May Alcott’s 1868–69 semi-autobiographical two-volume novel. Just like the classic tale, it focuses on the four March sisters: traditional Meg, wild and aspiring writer Jo, timid Beth and romantic Amy.
Set in Concord, Massachusetts, spending time with their beloved “Marmee” while their father is away serving as a Union Army chaplain during the Civil War, the show is a series of vignettes in which their lives unfold.
The Broadway production first opened at the Virginia Theatre Jan. 23, 2005.
Little Women the Musical is a wonderful show for families, particularly those with “little women” of their own, especially those with budding writers and dreamers.
Evening shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on all three Fridays and matinees are Sundays at 2:30 p.m. The first two Saturday shows are evening performances at 7:30 p.m. and the last Saturday of the run, Dec. 21, is a 2:30 p.m. matinee – perfect for families.
