ACT receives donation from Guaranty Bank

Jun. 4, 2019

On Thursday, May 23, First Guaranty Bank of Garland hosted an open house to celebrate the establishment of a new branch located at 603 Main St. in Garland, TX. Not only did this opportunity allow for the recognition of the company’s expansion, it was also a time to celebrate the accomplishments of charities making a big impact within the community.

Customers and community members were invited to dine and donate to a local charity during the open house. The event was set up with a voting booth where attendees had the chance to vote on three charities or local programs, selected by the branches, to receive a cash prize provided by First Guaranty Bank.

Achievement Center of Texas, a nonprofit center for children and adults with special needs, was selected as one of the three local charities to receive the donation. Runners-up included Habitat for Humanity of Greater Garland and The Friendship House. Each organization is dedicated to serving and making a difference, in the lives of those within the community, in a unique way.

At the end of the evening, after votes were tallied, Achievement Center of Texas was announced as the winning charity that would receive the prize. Bank officials presented a giant check for $1,000 to Andrew Mlcak, executive director of ACT.

“Being involved in our community is so important to our organization,” Mlcak said. We were thrilled to be invited to this event by Guaranty Bank because it tells us we are doing something right. We couldn’t have done it without the support of our students, families, employees and board members. As we strive to be the best we can be, events like this show us we are making an impact in our community and those around us are taking notice.
