Alpha Charter students participated in the University Interscholastic League conference 2A region 2 district 12 academic meet, April 4-6.
The computer science contest covers topics in the Java programming language and consists of a 45-minute written test and a two hour hands-on programming session where teams write programs to solve as many of 12 problems as possible.
In the individual competition, Alpha Charter student Sydney Lewis placed first, Christian Dominguez placed second and Kameshia Actwood placed fifth. They will advance to the conference 2A region II meet to be held April 22-23 at Grayson College in Denison, Texas. .
Other students participating at the meet include: Devonzell Hollingsworth in computer applications, Courage Soko in ready writing, Horace Cox in current events, and Angel Hernandez in social studies.
Additionally, Tamiree Smith has placed fourth in the UIL conference 2A region 2 district 12 100 meters and has advanced to the area round in Springtown, Texas.
