Garland’s Alpha Charter School students enjoyed a visit to Texas College May 19. The college, located in Tyler, welcomed 23 students from the charter school to tour the campus. The group included four seniors.
Alpha Charter’s Athletic Director Daryl Osby had a chance to show students around his alma mater and they had an opportunity to meet with academic advisors, admissions officers, students and athletic program representatives. All the students received necessary information about admissions and the seniors were able to enroll for the 2016-17 school year.
“As a proud alumnus of Texas College, I take great pride in bringing students to my alma mater and introducing them to opportunities to further their education,” Osby said.
While the students were happy to have the opportunity to tour the campus and visit with various representatives, they are thrilled by the possibility of attending college.
“I am excited for the chance to attend college. It is a new step for a new life for me” senior Derrick Looney said.
