Garland has approved a deal bringing an internationally-positioned electronics manufacturing and services company to Texas and its established and diverse family of manufacturers. All Quality and Services Inc. (AQS) makes computer components such as modules, modems, semiconductors, circuit boards and more. They also provide management, engineering, supply chain and logistical solutions for their highly diverse customer base. With the ever-growing presence of computer production in North Texas, this newly-forged relationship should prove highly advantageous for both AQS and Garland.
AQS’s newest home will be located at 2010 Merritt Drive and they expect to be operational by the end of the year. Over $800,000 will be invested in renovating the existing 58,000 square foot facility on an associated 2.8-acre site and a minimum of $3.6 million will be added to the city’s tax rolls with newly procured machinery and equipment. As part of this exciting project, AQS will also create 150 new full-time positions with an $8.1 million annual payroll.
This newest North Texas employer will have access to a vast network of highly-skilled technology production workers in Garland and surrounding communities. They also plan to build their clientele from medium-sized businesses and startups in the area.
“We chose Garland for its manufacturing, tech and business resources. They are in a strategic location for our operations, and we are happy to be working with the City in a mutually beneficial partnership” said Scott Kim, Director of AQS, Inc.
AQS has almost 30 years of industry experience. It was established in 1991 in Silicon Valley, a well-known North American technology hub, and now has facilities in California, China, and South Korea. Over the years the company has formed AQS Group with three other sister companies. The group has expanded its reach into the medical (specifically orthopedic) technology, automotive, mobile, gaming and industrial markets.
According to the National Association of Manufacturers and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, the computer manufacturing industry has made notable surges in both employment and revenue in Texas. Notably, it was one of the top 10 Texas manufacturing sectors in 2016, and it has shown steady and prominent employment growth in North Texas compared to all other industries.
Currently, Garland is the home of many computer and electronics manufacturers; such as Micropac Industries, National Circuit Assembly, Alltek Circuit, Garland Service Company and more. Once AQS opens its doors, it will be a sizeable addition to this growing technological manufacturing group. Their new location will be a dedicated manufacturing platform, specializing in new product introduction, mass volume production and full boxing capabilities.
“We are very excited to welcome AQS, Inc. to Garland and Texas. Our goal is to help this valued and growing manufacturer thrive as we fully appreciate their role in further diversifying the city’s tax base and increasing technological competitiveness for our community on an international scale” said David Gwin, director of Garland’s Department of Economic Development.
