Arrest made in April 6 shooting investigation

32-year-old Christopher Polk, a Dallas resident, was arrested April 12 and charged with murder for the shooting death of 31-year-old Marquicha Mingo, also a Dallas resident.

On April 6, Garland Police Department officers responded to reports of a gunshot disturbance at an apartment community located in the 4200 block of Duck Creek Drive. The investigation revealed the incident stemmed from a disturbance originating in Dallas. It involved multiple individuals and eventually escalated into a shooting in Garland, resulting in two individuals being shot. One of the individuals tragically succumbed to their injuries at a local hospital.

A second individual sustained non-life-threatening injuries from the incident and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

GPD officers apprehended Polk in Dallas April 12, and Polk was later transported to Dallas County. Polk’s bond was set at $1,000,000.

This incident remains under active investigation.
