Athletics, fine arts: return-to-school video

Aug. 19, 2020

Athletics, cheer, drill and marching band practices resume soon. In light of updated guidance from Dallas County Health and Human Services and the UIL, Garland ISD will resume its athletic strength and conditioning programs for football, volleyball, team tennis and cross-country, as well as cheer, drill and marching band rehearsals, Monday, Aug. 24.

We have been closely monitoring neighboring districts that have already resumed athletics and other practices and are eager to provide students with enough time to prepare for the season and to prevent injuries. Our practices will be held outside of school hours until students return for face-to-face learning Sept. 8.

Strict health and safety protocols will also be followed and are outlined in our Reopening Schools Instructional Guidebook. All other practices will resume when students return for face-to-face learning Sept. 8.
