Anyone who was married in Garland’s Historic Pace House or who was honored at any event during the time the Pace House was an event center for the city of Garland is encouraged to bring photos of those events to the historic home tour in Travis College Hill Addition Saturday, April 11.
The turn-of-the-century Pace House, which recently was moved from behind the Granville Arts Center to South 11th Street, is one of five historic homes open to the public from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. during the free, public tour.
During a 3 p.m. ceremony at the home tour, persons will be recognized if they were Pace House brides or grooms, were feted at a graduation or anniversary reception, were honored at or attended a political rally or were at any other event there from the time it began as an events center in 1986. Such individuals are asked to bring a copy of a photo showing them attending the past event in the Pace House.
The photos will be used to make a montage that will be permanently displayed in the foyer of the Pace House, which is being returned to private residential use at 317 South 11th Street. The other four homes on tour are at 301, 313, 411, and 400 South 11th and are 1915-1918 vintage.
