Garland’s Band Together on the Square Concert Series earned the 2023 Arts & Humanities Programming Achievement Award from the Texas Recreation and Park Society (TRAPS).
The Downtown Development Office, part of the Garland Parks, Recreation & Cultural Arts Department, received the honor at the TRAPS 2023 State Awards Ceremony on March 2 in Frisco. The award is given to a program that exemplifies commitment and dedication in the field of recreation.
Band Together on the Square was selected for the prestigious award out of more than 140 entries.
In 2022, Band Together on the Square ran every Friday night, May through September. While creating a unique musical experience in the heart of the city, the series simultaneously encouraged patrons to navigate around construction and support small businesses Downtown.
