There was fun for everyone at the recent Children’s Mid-Autumn Festival held at Cali Saigon Mall in Garland. Mayor Scott LeMay and council members Deborah Morris, Margaret Lucht and Dylan Hedrick attended the event.
Jennifer Nguyen, the event organizer, is a tireless volunteer and community leader. In addition, she has been called “the voice of the Vietnamese community in the area.”
The children’s and teens’ song and dance groups were talented and fun to watch. Kids from various groups, including Garland ISD’s Parsons Kindergarten, wowed the audience.
The kids also enjoyed the bounce houses at the celebration. And, special gift bags were given to all the kids as they “paraded” through a line, anxious to see what toys were in the bags.
In addition, there was time for visitors to browse in the shops and sample the food in the food court.
In the evening, the adults were entertained by the California Singers.
Nguyen is a partner of the Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation, an organization that helps all Garland PD employees in need of financial assistance with medical bills. Generous donations were made to that organization during the event.
About Cali Saigon Mall
Discover an eclectic mix of restaurants, retail shops and a Vietnamese supermarket all at Cali Saigon Mall. The mall is a top destination for Asians throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Experience and satisfy a taste of many Asian cultures by visiting the food court located inside the mall.
People do not visit the mall to just shop and eat. They also attend events like the Chinese Lunar Year Celebration and Children’s Moon Festival.
Cali Saigon Mall is also an international experience for those outside the culture, who come to explore the family-run shops, full of familiar and not-so-familiar fare.
About Garland Police Never Walk Alone Foundation
We began as a unit within the police department to help a very dear friend suffering from cancer. With the support of the community, we were able to help our friend. After tireless hours of our founding board members, we received our 501(c)(3) status as of Oct. 2021. We hope to continue to grow and support our brothers and sisters not just in uniform, but for the entire department. Our executive board consists of five members as well as a board of directors which includes various liaisons within the department. Our services include being advocates for mental and physical needs for all employees and their immediate families in times of need.
