According to Carter BloodCare, the start of summer typically signals a drought in the Texas blood supply. Up to 25% of the community blood supply is collected through high school blood drives. When high school students go on summer break and families travel away on vacation, blood donations are impacted.
However, patients still need lifesaving transfusions every day.
At Carter BloodCare’s area blood drives and donor centers, it takes less than an hour to give blood that saves local lives.
Donated blood helps children fighting cancer, mothers having difficult deliveries, those with injuries due to serious vehicle accidents and severe trauma, patients getting organ transplants, older adults with age-related health issues, and many others.
Through June 30, each Carter BloodCare donor will receive a six-pack of reusable hot-cold cups. Lids are included with the colorful 16-ounce beverage cups. This donor appreciation gift is available while supplies last.
