According to the Environmental Protection Agency, North Americans purchase 33 million fresh-cut Christmas trees every year. Garland residents can help free up space in the landfill by dropping off trees at no cost at the Wood Recycling Facility during normal business hours. You can also place your undecorated, live tree on the curb for brush and bulky pickup.
The trees will be ground into mulch, which will enrich gardens and return nutrients to the earth.
Things to remember:
- Trees should be free of lights, ornaments and other decorations.
- Only bring wood waste from the household where you reside.
- Bring a valid driver’s license or Garland utility bill to show proof of residency.
- Unload the wood waste yourself.
