Due to ongoing winter weather, city of Garland offices and facilities will remain closed through Wednesday, Feb. 1.


The Sanitation Department will NOT pick up trash, recycling or bulky items Wednesday. At this time, the City plans to delay this week’s collections by two days with crews working Saturday and Monday to complete this week’s routes. Please monitor the City’s website for updates.

These closures include City Hall, the Duckworth Utility Services Building and Utility Drive-Thru, the Main Street Municipal Building, the Hinton Landfill, the Transfer Station, all libraries, recreation centers and any other administrative offices.

Essential services such as Police, Fire, street and utility operations will remain open.

Nonessential city facilities close due to weather

City of Garland will close all nonessential facilities and operations at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, due to current and forecasted weather conditions. The closures will extend through Tuesday, Jan. 31. Wednesday’s schedule will be assessed that morning.

These closures include City Hall, the Duckworth Utility Services Building and Utility drive-thru, the Main Street Municipal Building, public health clinic, all libraries, recreation centers and any other administrative offices.

The City Tax Department will extend its delinquency date an additional day, giving taxpayers to pay without penalty Thursday, Feb. 2.

Essential services such as Police, Fire, street and utility operations will remain open.
