City hosts fire chiefs forum

Mar. 7, 2024

The city of Garland was recently chosen to host the Texas Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association.

Alumni from Bedford, Cedar Hill, Euless, Garland, Grapevine, Hurst, Irving, Mansfield, McKinney, North Richland Hills, Plano, Richardson, Roanoke and Trophy Club gathered Feb. 17 at The Atrium at the Granville Arts Center for an annual business meeting and Chiefs Forum. Fire chiefs from the member cities, including Chief Mark Lee of Garland, took the stage for a question-and-answer session. The Garland Fire Department also displayed apparatus outside The Atrium. And, all attendees received a commemorative bag filled with items spotlighting Garland and what the City has to offer.

Not only are fire academies an increasingly popular way for residents of cities across Texas to become better acquainted with their local departments, many continue the experience and add to their connection through alumni associations. Membership in the Citizens Firefighters Club of Garland is open to all graduates of the Garland Fire Department’s Citizens Fire Academy.
