People of all ages gathered along the 71st Labor Day Parade route Monday, Sept. 5. Led by Garland’s Mayor Douglas Athas and the City Council Members, a large group of Boy Scouts with American flags ushered in other parade participants.
There were high school bands, cheerleaders, flag corps, drill teams and athletes of all ages. As always, the Shriners made an impressive showing with their band, clowns in tiny cars and on tiny scooters as well as members riding ATVs.
Children’s groups, churches, political candidates and various service organizations participated in the festivities as did the Garland Police Department and Garland Fire Department
