Cub Scout Pack 1199 wins food drive competition

Jul. 10, 2020

The folks at Good Samaritans of Garland were overwhelmed by the number of individuals, organizations and businesses that participated in June’s I Spy A Good Sam fundraising competition. Thanks to everyone that participated.

The top three donors were:

No. 1 – Cub Scout Pack 1199

No. 2 – Garland Animal Control

No. 3 – South Garland Baptist Church

Other high-level donors included 3Q Fitness, Excel Title, Liberty Heat & Air, Mavs & Mochas, Phi Beta Sigma, Resource One and Therogenics.

The generosity and hard work of the Garland community made it possible for Good Sam to receive 19,686 pounds of food in June.

Please remember that donations are welcome at any time. Some of the most-needed items include:

  • peanut butter
  • dry pasta
  • macaroni & cheese
  • canned meat
  • canned green beans
  • canned corn
  • hearty soup

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative financial impact on our community for several months and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Currently, food assistance for families is up 300% compared to this time in 2019.

Please remember to spread the word among your church, life group, employer, employees and organizations.
