Jul. 8, 2023

The Garland Summer Musicals’ second production of the 2023 season is Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. The production will run July 21-30. Audiences are sure to enjoy this sophisticated, suave and delightfully jazzy Broadway classic.

Patty Granville is the producer of the Garland Summer Musicals and has served in this capacity since the theater’s 1982 inception. J. Alan Hanna will direct Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Scott A. Eckert as music director, Kelly McCain as choreographer and Caren Sharpe-Herbst as assistant director.

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels features Randy Pearlman as Lawrence, Steven Golin as Andre, Molly Robinson as Christine, Whitney Golin as Muriel, Brandon Wilhelm as Freddy and Kynzi Gumm as Jolene.

Music and lyrics are by David Yazbek. Book is by Jeffrey Lane. Based on the 1988 film of the same name, the musical premiered on Broadway in 2005 and ran for 626 performances

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is set in the exotic French Riviera. For years, Lawrence Jameson has made his living by fleecing rich women out of their money. He believes he is the best in the game until he meets Freddy Benson. Freddy takes a different, but effective approach, playing on the women’s emotion. The men decide to work together, but a clash of egos ends that plan.
