Be sure to attend the celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 19, as the new animal shelter and adoption center shows off its new location. There will be animal adoptions, food trucks, vendors, kids’ activities and more,
Garland’s new animal shelter at 1902 State Highway 66 is now open. You can Make Your Mark as part of the celebration! For as little as $100, the shelter will be equipped with a brick displaying your name, your company’s name or your way to honor a special person or furry friend. Or, you can sponsor a bench, a kennel or even a meet-and-greet room! You can purchase bricks, benches and make general donations online. If you’d like to make a larger donation, email ADunphy@GarlandTX.gov.
The new animal shelter was approved in the 2019 bond election during which voters approved $423,700,000 for several much-needed additions and improvements in the city of Garland. The bond approval was great news to many of Garland’s citizens as the previous animal shelter was old, outdated and much too small to fit the needs of a city Garland’s size.
