Wednesday, Sept. 5, just before 11:00 a.m., Garland Police Department officers attempted to investigate a narcotics complaint at a residence in the 1500 block of Kingsbridge Drive. A subject from inside the location exited the rear of the house and fled in a red Dodge SUV. The driver has been identified as 32-year-old Jamarese DeAngelo Coleman of Garland.
Officers attempted to perform a traffic stop but the driver did not stop and lead officers in a vehicle pursuit. The driver of the Dodge evaded officers at a high rate of speed south on Garland Avenue, west on Buckingham Road, and then north on Shiloh Road.
The driver of the Dodge entered the intersection of Beltline Road when the light was red. A black passenger vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Beltline struck the Dodge causing the driver of the Dodge to be ejected.
One of the tires came off of the Dodge, went through a window at an auto parts store nearby and struck a customer inside. The customer was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The person driving the black passenger car suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.
The driver of the Dodge was transported to Plano Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.
Marijuana was recovered from inside the Dodge.
This is an ongoing investigation.
