Garland police officers made 37 DWI arrests during the 18 days of increased enforcement around the Labor Day holiday. From Aug. 21 through Sept. 7, GPD stepped up its Driving While Intoxicated patrols in an effort to keep Garland citizens and visitors safe during the Labor Day holiday.
The added enforcement resulted in 16 DWI arrests plus one Driving Under the Influence by a Minor arrest. In addition, Garland’s regular patrols logged 20 DWI arrests bringing the total to 37 arrests.
The additional enforcement was paid for by a state funded grant from TxDot known as the Impaired Driving Mobilization Grant.
