The Garland Police Department made 21 Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) related arrests during the stepped-up enforcement period for the Independence Day Holiday celebrations. From Friday, June 21, through Sunday, July 7, the Garland Police Department participated in a statewide added enforcement initiative targeting DWI and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by minors.
The additional enforcement, paid for by a state-funded grant from TxDOT, known as the Impaired Driving Mobilization (IDM) Grant, resulted in:
- 300 Traffic Stops
- 353 Citations
- 133 Warnings
- 2 Other Arrests for Unrelated Offenses
The Garland Police Department would like to thank TxDOT for their assistance in allowing officers to keep the city streets safe during the Independence Day Holiday.
Together, let’s make our roads safer! Join us in the effort to #EndTheStreakTX.
