During the increased enforcement period, Garland police officers arrested 29 drivers for DWI-related offenses. From August 16 through September 2, the Garland Police Department stepped up enforcement to combat impaired driving during the Labor Day Holiday. The increased patrols are part of the Impaired Driver Mobilization (IDM) project funded by TXDOT, targeting Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) by minors.
The additional enforcement resulted in the following:
