The presidential, congressional and city general elections will be held Nov. 3. The Governor extended the early voting period to begin Oct. 13-30. The Dallas County Elections Department has implemented procedures for all voters who wish to cast their ballot in person, during Early Voting or on Election Day. Garland citizens may request a ballot by mail from Dallas County Elections (https://www.dallascountyvotes.org/wp-content/uploads/ABBM-5-15f-English-2.pdf). Current qualifications for voting by mail: age 65 or older, disabled, expected absence from the county and confinement in jail. These voters may continue to return ballot(s) by U.S. mail.
Governor Abbott suspended Section 86.006(a-1) of the Texas Election Code. This suspension now allows all voters who do not qualify under the above requirements to deliver a marked mail ballot in person to the early voting clerk’s office before and including on Election Day, Nov. 3. Ballots should be delivered to 1520 Round Table Drive, Dallas, TX 75247.
The South Garland Branch Library at 4845 South Broadway Blvd. and the Richland College Garland Campus at 675 Walnut Street are polling locations for early voting from Oct. 13-30. Check Dallas County Elections website for additional early voting locations outside of Garland and for a schedule. While the majority of the city limits lie within Dallas County, a small area falls within the Collin County boundaries. For those citizens who live in Collin County, you may check the County Collin Elections website for information on polling locations during early voting and for Election Day, Nov. 3.
