Fox 4 News reported Jan. 28 that a Garland man had been arrested for involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. The report said that Daniel Phipps had posted photos of himself inside the Capitol on social media. According to the criminal complaint, the above photo was found on his Facebook page and is now included in the evidence against him.
According to the report, Phipps was located and arrested in Corpus Christi. He was charged with two crimes: Knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building or grounds and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds.
The complaint quotes other social media posts where Phipps had allegedly indicated that he had been inside the Capitol Jan. 6.
In another Facebook post, Phipps allegedly also wrote, “I exercised my 1st amendment right to take grievances to our representatives. It was a (mostly peaceful) political protest.”
Five people were killed during the riot and numerous were injured.
A tip from the Fort Worth Police Department led to the arrest of the Garland man.
