A don’t miss special is coming to FOX News Channel (FNC) Sunday, July 26, at 9 p.m. central time. Garland’s own Lawrence Jones, who has been with the network since 2018, will be hosting a one-hour primetime special called One Nation.
The program will take an honest look at the state of race relations in the United States from a variety of perspectives including civil rights activists, law enforcement officials, religious leaders and network personalities.
Jones explained that the current controversy in America is affecting everyone but not many people get a chance to visit with those who are dealing with it firsthand or to give them a chance to tell their stories. He is grateful that FOX gave him the opportunity.
“I want this special to be different in that it brings some solutions to the table,” he said. “We have to talk about how we can bring this country together because we are so divided. They will be difficult conversations, but hopefully will serve as a model for the country to see that they can talk to their neighbors about these issues,” Jones said.
Offering up ideas for solutions is important to the journalist because often, with this type of special, people are more depressed after watching it than they were before.
“I don’t want that to be the case,” Jones said. “I want them to have some references and tools to use to make a difference in their own community.”
He will talk to people about what works and what doesn’t work.
“We’ve seen crime skyrocket in New York City, Chicago and Philly,” Jones said. “We’ll talk about what doesn’t work and then we’ll talk about legislation that is being debated right now.”
He believes that part of the reason that the country is experiencing these issues is that we aren’t living up to our American values. In his opinion, the problem is three-pronged and that there must be accountability.

- When the state abuses its power, leaders should be held accountable.
- When people are terrorizing their own communities, they should be held accountable.
- The generalization that all cops are bad is a problem that must be solved.
“Just like people of color don’t want to be generalized, cops don’t want to be generalized by their bad actors on the force,” Jones said. “American cities shouldn’t look like war zones. The leaders have an obligation to keep families and communities safe and someone needs to answer to why that isn’t happening and what we need to do to make it happen.”
Jones holds both sides, Democrats and Republicans, accountable.
“I’m not in anyone’s camp but I do want accountability and I do want solutions,” he said.
Some of Jones’ more high-profile stories have included a recent interview with Bubba Wallace from Nascar; a 2016 interview with the parents of Micah Johnson, the Dallas shooter from the police ambush; a Brooklyn family whose 18-month-old child was shot while in a stroller at a BBQ; and the Chicago family of a seven-year-old who was killed in a drive-by shooting on July 4th.
He currently serves as FNC contributor and FOX Nation host. He frequently appears on Outnumbered as the “One Lucky Guy” and fills in as a guest co-host on The Five. Known for his “man-on-the-street” segments, Jones often travels around the country to investigate current issues.
Jones attended Garland High School where he played basketball until his senior year when he gave it up to help at-risk kids in the juvenile justice system. He then studied criminal justice at the University of North Texas.
“While I was in college I fell in love with journalism and going after the story…I love telling the stories,” he said.
