GCT presents ‘Wait Until Dark’

Garland Civic Theatre (GCT) continues its 54th season with a production of “Wait Until Dark,” written by Frederick Knott.

“Wait Until Dark” is a thriller set in New York City in 1963. It is centered around a blind woman named Susy Hendrix. She is unwittingly in possession of a doll that three ruthless criminals are very interested in finding. The criminals will terrorize, bully or do whatever is necessary to get the doll. However, Susy learns that her blindness could be her best weapon in defending herself against them. The suspense is palpable and the audience will be on the edge of their seats.

Alexzandria Smith appears as Susy, Brian Hokanson portrays Roat, Jonathan Luce is Mike and Addam Vigil plays Carlino. Bella Brown portrays Gloria, Chima Collin Akanno is Sam. Connor Stewart and Bethany Brown portray police officers. Stacey Upton is the director.

Lee Remick played the role of Susy in the original stage production in 1966 and was nominated for a Tony Award. In 1967, a film version was released. Audrey Hepburn was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for her portrayal of Susy.

The show schedule is as follows:

Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays – April 29 – May 15

Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees are at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20. A discount for groups of 10 or more is available.

All performances are held at the Granville Arts Center, 300 North Fifth Street in downtown Garland.
