Saturday, Nov. 3 was a fun-filled day as the Garland Downtown Business Association hosted its inaugural wine walk. High ticket sale numbers made for a large crowd downtown as well as increased business for retail shops and restaurants. Online ticket sales were limited to 350 which sold out before event day and 50 tickets were sold at the event.
He Wines She Dines was the official wine supplier. There were 12 wine stop locations: Picker’s Paradise; Finders Keepers by Monica; Current Artist Workshop; Lonestar Neck & Back; Wholly Formed Yoga; Wild Grace; Dos Banderas Tex-Mex Restaurant; Millhouse Pizzeria; Baker’s Furniture; Roach Feed & Seed; Boogie Nights; and Rosalind’s Coffee.
There were also vendor tents along the walk, which began at Pickets’ Paradise, 915 Main Street and ended at Roach Feed & Seed.
A long list of downtown merchants donated gift cards for a prize drawing that was held at the end of the walk. Additionally, there were two bands, Sabrina & Gypsy Bleu and The Driftin’ Outland Band, that added lively music.
Participants who stopped at eight or more wine stops received a coupon book that included savings offers from downtown restaurants.
As participants ended the walk at the Garland Downtown Business Association booth, they had only great things to say about the event. Many commented that it was about time that Garland began to have events of this type and they hoped GDBA would plan more.
