GEF, Texas Instruments award grants to teachers

May. 27, 2019

Three Garland ISD teachers recently won $10,000 TI Foundation Innovations in STEM Teaching Awards for their phenomenal instruction and impact. Thanks to a partnership between the Garland ISD Education Foundation and the Texas Instruments Foundation, three outstanding secondary teachers who promote science, technology, engineering and math have a chance to win the $10,000 cash prize every year.

GISD’s 2018-19 recipients are Lyles Middle School teacher Dawn Warnsley, North Garland High School teacher Trina Cunningham and Sachse High School teacher Jessica Garcia. Each won the honor after being nominated by their principal, submitting an application and being selected by a committee.

The trio each received $5,000 for their personal use and $5,000 to use for STEM-related professional development, technology and/or classroom materials.
