The Garland Summer Musicals opened the 2024 season Friday, June 14, with a delightful production of “Singin’ in the Rain.” The musical was adapted from the classic 1952 movie of the same name. Betty Comden and Adolph Green wrote the screenplay. The songs are by Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed.
The show was filled with gifted actors, singers and dancers. The tap dance numbers were very entertaining.
Joseph Jones choreographed the show and portrayed Don Lockwood, and Hayley Ewerz was Kathy Selden. Patrick Pevehouse was Cosmo Brown, and Caitlin Miles portrayed Lina Lamont. These main characters, as well as the rest of the cast, were very talented.
Patty Granville serves as the director and producer. Rodney Dobbs, designer and Joe Murdock, master carpenter, created beautiful sets. Michael Robinson at the Dallas Costume Shoppe did a wonderful job on the costumes.
