Anthony Luna, 2010 Garland High School graduate, started his Marine Corps career June 23, 2014. He attended recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. After graduating from basic training, Luna attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Pendleton. He then reported to Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo where he attended Aircraft Rescue Firefighting School.
He was reassigned July 13 this year to MSG Detachment Ashgabat, Turkmenistan where he currently serves as an embassy guard.
Luna was promoted to the rank of sergeant Oct. 1. The promotion ceremony was held outside the U.S. Embassy in Ashgabat Turkmenistan. Ambassador Allan Mustard participated in the ceremony and congratulated Sergeant Luna.
The GHS graduate is the son of Rhonda E. Garcia who lives in Garland.
