About the NMS Program

The National Merit Scholarship Program is a prestigious academic competition for recognition and scholarships. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship® award, semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level.

Steps in the 2024 Competition

Semifinalists were selected based on their scores from the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). To become a finalist, students must submit a detailed scholarship application, which includes information about their academic record, participation in school and community activities demonstrated leadership abilities, employment and honors and awards received.
