GISD Class of 2018 says hello to future

Jun. 17, 2018

Nearly 4,000 Garland ISD students culminated 13 years of learning June 7-9 at the Curtis Culwell Center. This year’s graduation ceremonies featured student leaders thanking their families, teachers and peers; Superintendent Ricardo López giving words of advice; and trustees officially deeming the former seniors GISD grads. Camera clicks, bright flashes and heartfelt cheers echoed from the stands as graduates walked the stage and into the next chapter of their lives.

Ready for the future, this year’s accomplished class earned an impressive $61.8 million in scholarships to attend colleges, universities, trade schools and military academies. GISD alumni will continue their education across the globe, including Harvard University; Universal Technical Institute; West Point; and Richmond, The American International University in London. Many will also join the workforce, honing their career skills and contributing to their communities.
