Three Garland ISD high schools competed in the bi-district round of playoffs Dec. 11-12. The Owls played Rockwall Heath High School and the Mustangs competed against Skyline High School Friday, Dec. 11. The Rangers played Tyler Legacy High School Saturday, Dec. 12.
The other team in District 9-6A, Wylie High School, was defeated by Rockwall High School in their bi-district game.
Garland Owls – Rockwall-Heath HS
The Owls were defeated by Rockwall-Heath High School by a final score of 42-14. GHS quarterback Cergio Perez had an impressive outing as he ended the game at 23-36 for 266 passing yards and one touchdown. The TD pass was to Shaunte Russell. The Owls also scored on a 31-yard run by Jordan Hudson.
Sachse Mustangs – Skyline HS
The Mustangs were defeated by Skyline HS by a score of 20-14. SHS QB Alex Orji threw for 244 yards and one TD when he connected with Jacorrie Mims. Orji also scored a rushing TD.
Naaman Forest Rangers – Tyler Legacy HS
The Rangers lost to Tyler Legacy HS by a score of 20-14. Rangers’ quarterback, Austin Valdez, ended the game at 9-19 with 130 yards and two touchdowns. TD passes were caught by Devean Deal and Brison Huey. Kingsley Bennett carried the ball 12 times for 67 yards for the Rangers. Deal caught three passes for 63 yards. Ja’Hari Lee had 23 carries for 70 yards.
